Fight Procrastination Day is today.

At this very moment, I am writing this post at 9:38 P.M

I would have written it sooner, but I kept putting it off.

So what is National Fight Procrastination Day?  It’s a day to get things done, a call to action, a challenge to fight the N-M-E (enemy).

What N-M-E?? No More Excuses. Today is a day to fight the reluctance and excuses that make you immobile. Make a decision. Take action. Do it now. Do it today. It may be hard to do. But, you will be glad you did.

“Like what?” you ask. Anything that is a “loose end.” Anything that has been hovering in the back of your mind, nagging at you..yet you can’t (or don’t) make the time to resolve it. For some people procrastination is a way of life, but in reality, procrastination is the thief of time.

Unfinished business can be like wearing cement shoes.

” Never put off until tomorrow, what you can do
today!” … Mark Twain

What do I start? What do I do?? The answer: Anything. Do anything that will move you in the direction of resolving these nagging little issues. It’s a little like writing a book. You start by picking up a pen..and writing a word. Then another. And another.

What are you putting off that you should do today?

I read a great article by writer Annie Lennox on a site called article2008. In this article Ms. Lennox shared some great tips on what is on many parent’s minds these days…

Internet Safety for Kids.

Why should you be concerned? In this fast paced world of technology, chat rooms, social networking platforms like My Space, and iPhones that can do everything but mow the lawn..an unsavory element lurks. Like a modern day “boogie-man-under-the-bed”..only this Boogie Man is real and can physically and emotionally hurt our children.

Our cherished Internet is part of our everyday lives. We use it daily to pay bills, email business associates, read the news, and social network with friends. However, the Internet also contains dangers that we as parents need to know about.

So what is Internet Safety for Kids? At Social Scanner and Mob Safety Ranger, we believe in providing parents with the tips and tools that can help them choose and monitor the content their children see on-line. Social Scanner acts as a filter and a shield between your family and the on-line Boogie-Man-under-the bed.

Google Family Center defines internet dangers as this:

Sharing too much personal information.

  • Meeting strangers on-lineDownloading suspicious materials.Vulgar Language

    Sexually explicit or violent material.

Sharing too much information about family life and family habits.

Sharing too much information about Mom & Dad’s background (college, work, banking habits)

There’s a “circle of blame” out there regarding child safety issues and the on-line world. Advertisers blame consumers and vise-versa. But the bottom line is, it’s time for parents to be “proactive” instead of “reactive.” Set reasonable boundaries and expectations for your kids on-line habits, talk about Internet safety rules with them, and tap into valuable safety tools that Social Scanner and Mob Safety Ranger have to offer.
